I would think any success with wireless iMacs would depend on the age of the iMac, the OS and any network hardware between them. So not much help really TBH I dont even use the WoL functionality proper anymore with my Mac Pro because with an AE the process is completely transparent, I still use a WoL client to wake my Linux PC but not for the Mac anymore. Ive never had any problems using WoL to my, wired, Mac Pro from my laptops but have never tried to wake a wireless device nor used an ATV.
